Your Voice advocacy

Your Voice, Carlisle & Eden Mind's advocacy scheme, provides Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act who need help to express themselves to mental health services.  We aim to ensure individuals have an active voice in decisions being made about them, their support and treatment and that their opinions, views and needs are respected and heard.

An advocate will work with the individual in a partnership to raise concerns regarding medication, care and treatment whilst giving support and information.

We can help you get what you are entitled to from services, attend meetings with you and help you to gain more confidence allowing you to express your opinion.  Advocacy helps you exercise more control over the choices and decisions that may have a big impact on your life, leaving you more confident for the next time.  An IMHA will work with the individual in a partnership to provide support and information.  To contact us call our referral line on 0300 012 0103 or email enquiries to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Connect

Connect is a partnership project between Carlisle Eden Mind, Citizens Advice, Cumbria Law Centre and Cumbria Action for Social Support (CASS).

Working with anyone who is suffering crisis, poverty or hardship and is worried about their mental health and wellbeing.

A hardship or poverty crisis can include immediate problems such as problems with money, food, gas/electric, clothes, furniture etc.  It can also include wider needs such as housing, welfare, benefits and debt.

The Connect project brings together Carlisle Eden Mind alongside other agencies including Citizens Advice, Cumbria Law Centre and CASS.   We help to provide a holistic service to people to help meet their needs and develop a support plan alongside these other agencies if necessary.

How Connect can support people

We create a support plan that we work through with individuals to help them during hardship or poverty crisis.

Our support can include:

  • Completing a needs assessment and support plan with someone around their poverty or hardship crisis.
  • Work with someone to identify what areas need to be addressed
  • Help someone to prioritise their needs
  • Signpost or refer on to relevant support agencies
  • Advocate on someone's behalf if/when necessary

To make a referral, complete our referral form and send on to Carlisle Eden Mind.
