Nightstop provides temporary accommodation on a night by night basis, for 16 - 25 year olds who need a safe place to stay. We do this by recruiting and training volunteers in the community to be Volunteer Nightstop Hosts. Our hosts offer a spare room in their home along with an evening meal, access to washing facilities and breakfast the following morning as well as a listening ear if needed. Nightstop staff can provide advice and support to help the young person secure longer term accommodation. We can also offer advice and support to people who are not using Nightstop accommodation, and can help with things like access to other services, access to funding etc.

How do I refer to this organisation?

Anyone wishing to refer to Nightstop should first make a telephone enquiry. This is so we can discuss with you the suitability of the referral and what availability we may have. A referral would then need to be made via our Nightstop referral form, or we can also accept an up to date CAP or 16/17 year olds First Contact Script (however we will require additional information if referring via either of the latter two). Before we can make a decision on whether we are able to offer Nightstop accommodation we must complete a risk assessment on the young person being referred. This involves checking any offending history, speaking to their last accommodation and agencies, family & friends who know the person well. As long as any risks identified are manageable within our setting we would be able to offer accommodation. If risks identified are not manageable in our particular setting, or if we can not gather enough information, then we would be unable to offer accommodation but can provide advice and support. Please be aware that the risk assessments take time to complete so try to allow plenty of time for the referral to be processed and inform the young person that we will be in touch with them.

We can accept referrals from anyone, including self referral from a young person directly.
