Changing text size

The Cumbria Advice Network website has a text resizing button. By clicking on the font-size bigger button at the very top right of this website you can increase the size of text. Click the button more times and the text size increases yet further. By clicking on the font-size smaller button you can reduce the size of text (this may be useful for people for example with tunnel vision). Click on the reset button to revert to the original default text size.

In most modern browsers it is also possible to magnify text by zooming in or out on the website for example by using control + or control - (i.e. hold down the Ctrl button and press the + or - key). More detailed information for each operating system and browser are on the BBC website.

Using screen readers

We are looking further at website design issues in relation to accessibility issues. Action for blind people in Carlisle have kindly offered assistance, for example to check and look to improve how the website works with Assistive Technology such as screen readers.

There is a really excellent and comprehensive section on accessibility issues and making use of accessibility features in websites and browsers on the BBC website.
